Discovering Mougins
Mougins is a hilltop village eight kilometres from Cannes, its lanes spiralling around the summit. People come for closeness to the sea without the sea itself: the beaches are fifteen minutes away, the quiet is immediate, and the back country starts in the garden.
Picasso spent the last twelve years of his life in Mougins, at the Notre-Dame-de-Vie farmhouse below the chapel of the same name, and died there in 1973. The André Villers photography museum, in the village, holds the portraits made of him by the photographers around him.

The old village
Pedestrian, spiral-shaped, with its galleries and tiny squares. You park at the entrance and walk the rest.
Notre-Dame-de-Vie
The valley below the village, with its chapel and cypress avenue. The most sought-after residential pocket in the commune.
Mougins-le-Haut
A more recent development on the heights, away from the old village, facing the hills and the Esterel.
