Gassin sits on a ridge at the centre of the peninsula, and it is from here that the geography of the gulf makes sense: Saint-Tropez on one side, Ramatuelle and the sea on the other, vines below and the Maures massif on the horizon. The village is listed among the Plus Beaux Villages de France.
It amounts to a handful of lanes, including the Androuno, said to be one of the narrowest streets in France — some thirty centimetres at its tightest. Below, the plain holds the wine estates, the golf course and the polo grounds that keep the back country of the gulf alive outside the beach season.

A ridge, a few lanes, a panoramic terrace over the whole gulf. Nothing more, and that is the point.
Below: wine estates, golf and polo grounds, a few minutes from Saint-Tropez.
The commune’s waterfront on the gulf, immediately next to Port Grimaud.
The climb to the village between vines and restored windmills, with the view opening at every bend.

Bespoke
Our Travel Advisor knows Gassin inside out, with its confidential addresses, local partners and event calendar. Let's talk for a few minutes to craft your stay.
The southern slope, facing Pampelonne: ten minutes from the beaches without the coastal traffic.
April - June
The season of green vines and long evenings. The village can be visited without queueing, unlike Saint-Tropez.
July - August
Gassin works as a rear base for the gulf: ten minutes from the beaches and away from the seafront jams.
September - October
Harvest, polo season and low light over the gulf. The truest moment to understand the peninsula.
November - March
The village folds in on itself, but the view remains and the wine estates stay open to visitors.
Spring and autumn
The Gassin plain hosts the gulf’s polo fixtures, outside the hottest months.
September
The estates on the plain bring in the crop. Several open their cellars to visitors at this time.
All year
The most complete viewpoint over the gulf of Saint-Tropez, three hundred metres above the sea.
The village is perched and tiny: you park at the entrance and everything else is done on foot, uphill.
Gassin is a logical rear base in summer: the beaches are ten minutes away, without the Saint-Tropez traffic.
Everyday shops are down on the plain, not in the hilltop village: a car remains essential.
